What charity would you like to nominate?
Why have you chosen this charity?
I am on the board of St Vincent’s Hospital and have helped raised funds for their mental health ward including establishing their music and art therapy programs.
‘The Cottage’ is a six-bed facility (but they get approximately 240 patients a year) adjacent to the main hospital on Fitzroy Street. The Cottage is for the unwell homeless client or people who are experiencing homelessness. Always over-capacity, the Cottage has a liaison nurse providing treatment. Young people are very common as well as older men and the staff are now seeing more and more women through their doors. It’s now harder than ever for homeless people to access crisis accommodation in Melbourne.
Why is S&C your preferred method of training?
Because it’s super fun but also challenging. I enjoy the fact that every day is different and loving all aspects, especially endurance!
Tell us what you enjoy most about training at NthSide?
I LOVE NthSide – the owners are total legends and there is a real community vibe. I try and get to NthSide every single day and sad on the days I can’t.
